Premium Optics for High Quality Imaging: Included with the quadruple nosepiece are four multi-coated 195mm objective lenses. Unlike lower grade objectives that tend to show false colors, these achromatic lenses are specially designed to correct color aberrations and display a true-color image. You get 4x, 10x, spring loaded 40x, and spring loaded oil immersion 100x objectives included with this microscope. For viewing, we provide a pair of premium grade wide-field 10x (18mm) eyepieces. This allows for magnification ranges of 40x, 100x, 400x and 1000x. We offer optional eyepieces as well. We have optional wide field eyepieces available in 15x, 16x, and 20x powers, giving you an enormous range of possible magnifications to 2000x.
Ultra-Comfort Ergonomic Microscope Design: This biological microscope has ergonomic features to make your microscope viewing as comfortable as possible. To begin, this microscope has an advanced Seidentopf-type microscope head. This gives you the absolute maximum flexibility and comfort in adjusting interpupillary distance. Cheaper models have a simple one-axis rack-and-pinion sliding adjustment head that is not nearly as easy to adjust. The main microscope head swivels 360 degrees for viewing from any angle, and the head itself sits at a comfortable 30 degree incline. The eyepieces have diopter focusing adjustments. The independent coarse and fine focusing knobs are on both the right and left side of the scope allowing for easy adjustment with either the right or left hand.
Large Mechanical X-Y Slide Holder: Unlike most cheaper models on the market that have simple slide clips, this microscope has a 115mm x 125mm stage with a fully mechanical X-Y axis slide holder. With this functionality, you can easily move the slide around on the stage with fine precision, no fumbling the slide under the clips. There is a graduated scale printed on the slide holder to allow you to maintain a record of the location of various structures on a particular slide. Most microscopes at this price range do not offer this feature.
Built-in Adjustable Intensity Halogen Light: This microscope has a built-in 20 watt halogen bulb, with adjustable intensity light controls. Beware of cheaper models that use a tungsten bulb or have a simple on/off switch with no brightness controls. Two spare halogen bulbs are included with your microscope. The microscope has a built-in spiral-type N.A. 1.25 Abbe condenser under the stage with an iris diaphragm. This advanced condenser gives you incredible control over the amount and focal length of light aimed at your specimen and is critical for high-powered magnification viewing. A swing-out filter holder is included as are a set of blue and green viewing filters.
Trinocular Microscope Port for Imaging: This model includes a trinocular imaging port to allow for the attachment of a film camera, digital camera (included), or CCD camera so you may capture and output your specimen images. A 23.2mm ocular adapter and a C-mount (CCD) adapter are included with the microscope. We also stock T-mount (T-ring) photo adapters, as well as T-rings for Nikon and Canon SLR and digital SLR cameras.
A Full Featured Professional Digital Microscope Camera: The included Variscope Digital Microscope Camera offers all of the features you would expect from a top-of-the-line digital microscopy set-up. Included with the camera is a fully-functioning software suite enabling you both to view video images of your specimens and to capture still frames. This microscope camera can be used for any digital microscopy application. The camera is ideal both for stereo microscopes and biological compound microscopes
Ideal for Video and Screen Output: This camera uses a 1/2" CMOS imaging chip (the same kind used in regular digital cameras) and USB 2.0 to output 2048 X 1536 pixel images, that's more than 3 Megapixels of information. This high-resolution output is what you need to generate quality printed images of specimens. At 150dpi, you can print gorgeous 8x10 prints with the images you snap with this camera. Despite the large file sizes, with the USB 2.0 connection, your refresh rate is still around 11 frames every second. This is an excellent camera to balance both live video demonstrations and an ability to shoot quality images for print applications.
Powerful Microscopy Software: Included with the camera is a comprehensive digital microscopy software editing suite. Compatible with Windows 2000/XP/Vista, the software outputs files in nearly every graphics format imaginable, including web standard JPEG, GIF and even Photoshop .psd files. The software allows you to measure angles, add graphics and text, and do color corrections and contrast adjustments right on your PC screen.
