Variscope 40x-900x Polarizing Trinocular Microscope with Infinity Corrected Objectives

Infinity Corrected Plan Distressing Objectives: This microscope has everything you would expect from a world-class optical instrument. Included with the quadruple nosepiece are four multi-coated, infinity corrected, objective lenses. Unlike our competitors who offer lower grade DIN objectives that tend to introduce spherical and other optical aberrations when paired with polarized light sources, this microscope features infinity corrected objectives that provide optical magnification and visual specimen reproduction. You get five objectives: 4x, 10x, 20x, spring loaded 40x, and spring loaded 60x objectives included with this microscope. For viewing, we provide a super-wide field pair of 10x eyepieces. These eyepieces have a 22mm field of view, provide long eye relief and are vastly superior to the standard 16mm or 18mm FOV eyepieces normally provided with biological microscopes. Also included is a pair of 15x super wide-field eyepieces. With the eyepieces, you'll enjoy magnifications of 40x, 60x, 100x, 150x, 200x, 300x, 400x, 600x, and 900x. We also include an additional 10x eyepiece with a built-in crosshair reticle and a second additional 10x eyepiece with a measuring grid reticle. A calibration micrometer slide is included. We offer optional eyepieces as well.

Full-Featured Polarizing Lighting System: This microscope features a built-in and fully focusable Bertrand lens on a rotating disc. The rotating disc is fully centerable. There is a built-in analyzer with capacity for removal from the optical path. The analyzer is rotatable 90 degrees with graduation marks for each degree. The 160mm stage disc is fully rotatable 360 degrees. There is a simple control knob to change between brightfield and polarizing illumination.

Special Features for Geological and Mineral Observations: This microscope includes several compensation plates to allow for specific wave lengths of light to be controlled and to help determine the orientation of anisotropic, or directionally dependent, materials. This microscope includes Quartzite, Mica and Gypsum retarding compensator plates.

Lower Kohler Halogen Illumination System: A Kohler illumination system is critical to achieving bright, and even lighting across the entire field of view without glare. Also, because Kohler illumination places the bulb at a considerable distance from the specimen, there is virtually no heating of the specimen caused by a hot halogen bulb. This microscope uses an advanced double-diaphragm illumination system to allow control both a field diaphragm and an iris diaphragm. The halogen light uses a 20 watt bulb, with adjustable intensity light controls. Two spare halogen bulbs are included with your microscope. The microscope has a built-in N.A. 1.25 Abbe condenser under the stage with an iris diaphragm. This advanced condenser can be focused separately with its own focus knob and gives you incredible control over the amount and focal length of light aimed at your specimen and is critical for high-powered magnification viewing. A swing-out filter holder is included as are a set of blue and green viewing filters.

Professional Double-Slide Holding Mechanical Stage: This microscope has a full-featured, oversized 180mm x 150mm fully mechanical stage. Unlike cheaper models, the slide holder is large enough to hold two microscope slides at the same time. The slide locks in place in the stage clip, and stage and slide holder can be moved with X-Y axis control knobs. The precision controls allow you to easily move the stage with fine precision, no fumbling the slide under the clips. There is a graduated scale printed on the slide holder to allow you to maintain a record of the location of various structures on a particular slide.

Professional Focuser: This microscope has a state-of-the-art tension adjustable focuser that integrates coarse and fine focusing in a single knob. With the tension adjust, you can set the amount of pressure you have to apply to the fine focuser to make adjustments. This is extremely useful in dealing with wet-mount slides where the fine focus range is fairly large compared with prepared slides. This microscope also features a fully-adjustable stop lock mechanism which allows you to instantly set the upper most range of the stage during focusing. This is used to guarantee that you will not crack the slide or damage the objective during focusing. The focusing controls are on both the right and left side of the scope allowing for easy adjustment with either the right or left hand.

Trinocular Microscope Port for Imaging: This model includes a trinocular imaging port to allow for the attachment of a film camera, digital camera, or CCD camera so you may capture and output your specimen images. A 23.2mm ocular adapter and a C-mount (CCD) adapter is included with this microscope. T-mount (T-ring) photo adapters are available, as well as T-rings for Nikon and Canon SLR and digital SLR cameras.

Ultra-Comfort Ergonomic Microscope Design: This biological microscope has ergonomic features to make your microscope viewing as comfortable as possible. To begin, this microscope has an advanced Seidentopf-type microscope head. This gives you the absolute maximum flexibility and comfort in adjusting interpupillary distance. There is an interpupillary gauge so that different users can keep track of their own optimal space setting, this is a nice feature that is not available on all brands of microscopes. Cheaper models have a simple one-axis rack-and-pinion sliding adjustment head that is not nearly as easy to adjust. The main microscope head swivels 360 degrees for viewing from any angle, and the head itself sits at a comfortable 30 degree incline. The eyepieces have diopter focusing adjustments.

Built-in Transformer: This microscope has a built-in voltage transformer. As a result, the microscope can be used world-wide with either 110v power (USA) or 220v power (world-wide). A USA type-plug adapter is supplied.
